This Trail Mix Can Help Lower LDL Cholesterol

Including phytosterols in your diet can help reduce LDL cholesterol levels. Here’s a delicious snack that can help!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of unsalted whole almonds
  • 1 cup of unsalted pecans
  • 1 cup of walnuts
  • 1 cup of shelled pumpkin seeds
  • 1 cup of dried unsweetened cranberries
  • 1 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 3 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves

Instructions

Preheat oven to 300 degrees.

Combine all ingredients except for cranberries.

Spread across 2 baking sheets and bake for 30 minutes, stirring halfway through.

Remove from the oven and let cool, then stir in the cranberries.

Tips & Tricks: Because this recipe makes 16 servings, you only need to make it every once in a while!

Mix It Up: Try peanuts, hazelnuts, dried cherries, raisins, and dark chocolate chips.
